PicoShare

PicoShare is a minimalist web-based file sharing tool I’m working on. I’m often frustrated that I can’t just send someone a link directly to a file because every file-sharing service tries to re-encode images/video or wrap their own viewer around other files, so I’m making a simple self-hostable tool that lets you upload files and share them with other people.

• Remove v2 from the picoshare import path
  • I just learned a few weeks ago that I’d been using this incorrectly (in every project)
  • I thought it meant opting in to the newer Go module system, but it actually means that I’ve reached v2 of my project and want to indicate breaking changes to clients
  • I was able to undo it with seemingly no negative effects

Misc

• Co-hosted the last outdoor Indie Founders Western Mass meetup of the summer
• Gave up on switching from Gnome to Niri
  • I just kept running into issue after issue
    • Niri wouldn’t recognize that my monitor supports 5120x1440 and maxes out at 3700ish pixels in width
    • The waybar randomly doesn’t show up
    • After booting, Ghostty takes several seconds to open
    • I wasn’t able to complete the Cline OAuth flow from Firefox (though it worked on Chromium)
• Proposed adding unit tests to MeshCore
• Suggested a heading rewrite in the Gleam v1.13.0 release
• Suggested a clearer error message to whisper-ctranslate2
• Backported my SubtitleSelection enum jellyfin changes to jellyrock
• Finished reading How Big Things Get Done: The Surprising Factors That Determine the Fate of Every Project, from Home Renovations to Space Exploration and Everything In Between by Bent Flyvbjerg and Dan Gardner
• Started sponsoring robn to work on OpenZFS
